Why Design?

   

   What solidified me choosing this career path was my experience living in a home that went through a 7 Year remodel. I got to see firsthand the installation process of multiple finish materials and how a small sample and vision can quickly come to life. My parents knew of my interest in design and always allowed me to participate in the selection process by visiting showrooms with them. I remember I was constantly fascinated by the variety of styles each material had. This unique experience of mine allowed me to gain more perspective in regard to interior design. I continued to take whatever opportunities I could to expand my knowledge in this field. In school, I would elect to take CAD classes, multiple art classes, woodworking classes, etc. I truly don't remember a time where I wasn't building skills in relation to this profession, whether I knew it or not, my hobbies and interest have always kindred to interior design. 

Work Experience 

 

   My Experience in this field started immediately after I graduated High School, in June of 2022 I Interned for Beaver Tile and Stone in the Michigan design center and by August of 2022 I was offered a position as a showroom consultant at the Shelby Township location. Working in a showroom has allowed me to gain knowledge on both finish and Building materials, it has also strengthened how I build customer relations and my ability to sell to clients. While working at Beaver Tile I attended a program at Oakland Community College which lead to me obtaining an associates in Interior Design. Both during and after my program I was given opportunities to further my experience by interning part time with a few other design companies. In the winter or 2025 I interned at Shelby Design Center in the kitchen and bath department. working with kitchens and Bathrooms specifically, reinforced my knowledge of the specifications and codes for standard materials and fixtures. In the Winter of 2026, I interned at Kia Design Studios, a company independently owned by a designer for over two decades. Working aside a designer who has been in the industry for so long was very beneficial as she has introduced me to new techniques and creative solutions. I completed both of these internships with the intention of broadening my knowledge and sharping my skills in the Interior Design field. I have a great appreciation for the opportunities I have gotten thus far. I have learned so much about design from both a visual and practical standpoint. I am excited to see where my educational training and professional experiences continue to take me.

   There is no doubt that I am willing to push myself to achieve my career goals. I'm a dedicated and driven interior designer with exceptional work ethic and genuine passion. I take pride in my work, and I have a great appreciation for the process it takes to create dream spaces for clients. While I believe confidence is important to have in any line of work, I also believe that remaining open minded is just as important. I have always welcomed critiques, new ideas, and diverse perspectives. I think this quality of mine is the reason I remain a quick learner and participating member of any team I am a part of.
